So What's This Blog About Anyway?
Why
I have learned on my journey that my “why” is always something I need to tune into and get clarity on, aka my intention. Why am I choosing to give my energy to _____ (fill in the blank)? What is my intention? Focusing on my why/my intention keeps me grounded in consciousness and responsibility for my choices and actions.
So why am I creating this blog? I want to connect and share with people in a new way. I have always been a writer but I haven’t focused my energy on sharing with others and this blog provides a container for me to do so. Sharing my writing is an evolutionary step for me and allows me to practice and experience vulnerability in a new way while connecting with others.
What
Simple, Mindful Living for Wellbeing is a lifestyle blog.
The mission of my blog is to share experiences, learnings, and tips for creating and maintaining wellbeing with simplicity and ease on all levels: physical, emotional, mental, and spiritual.
I want my readers to feel:
- inspired
- entertained
- informed
- curious
- motivated
- connected
Who is Deanna Thomas and who are my readers?
- I just turned 48 in May 2023 and I was born and raised in the San Francisco East Bay of California
- I lived in California for my whole life until I moved to the countryside of Portland, Jamaica in 2018
- I believe that wellbeing is simple: awareness, love, and compassion are the foundation and it starts internally and then externally
- I believe that if you master your mind, you master this life!
- I value and consciously cultivate harmony and simplicity in all aspects of my existence
- The personal roles I hold as Wife, Mother, Daughter, Sister, Auntie, Cousin, Friend, Divorcee, and Empty Nester all influence my perspective on life and thus my writing
- I have several professional roles that also influence my perspective on life and my writing: Usui Reiki Master Teacher, Licensed Massage Therapist, Yogi, not-currently practicing public school Special Education Teacher and Administrator, and small business owner
- I am a Gemini Sun, Aries Rising, and a Scorpio Moon. I have fun dappling in Astrology personally but am not at all an expert or teacher in this area! I just learned that my North Node is in Sagittarius and my South Node is in Gemini…now I’m researching to learn more about what this means and how it may apply to my life
- I am a lifelong learner and enjoy learning new things and then sharing it with others
- I am committed to keeping my mind open and to cultivating a growth mindset for my whole life…this old dog can always learn new tricks! ❤️
- I love, love, love: homemade coconut oil from Jamaica (so delicious and so many uses!), chocolate in just about any form (including Oreos), eating snacks in bed while watching a show, swimming (especially in the beautiful natural waters here in Jamaica!), and dancing by myself to my favorite music where no one can see me with my headphones on (I got all the moves as long as no one is watching, lol!)
My reader is interested in some or all of the following:
- alternative ways of living and experiencing this existence
- holistic modalities for overall health and wellbeing such as:
- mindfulness
- yoga
- massage
- energy healing
- spirituality
- spiritual awakening
- ascension
- soul work and alignment
- a connection to something larger than oneself
- the interconnectedness of all beings
- Jamaica
- travel
- ease
- simplicity
I love, love, love homemade Jamaican coconut oil!
